How this e-commerce blog increased organic traffic from 0 to 80k in 2.5 years

About the project

E-commerce brands often treat their blog like a side room: useful, but not directly connected to sales.

The goal here was different.

Inspire Uplift Blog was built around turning an e-commerce blog into an additional organic growth channel. Product and collection pages already had commercial value, but the blog gave us a way to capture customers earlier in the buying journey, build trust, and support category/product discovery through useful content.

What we focused on

Finding the keywords

The first step was to map keywords by intent.

Instead of treating all blog keywords equally, we grouped them into high-intent, medium-intent and low-intent topics. High-intent keywords were best for product-led listicles and gift guides (e.g., “home decor gifts for couples”). Medium-intent keywords helped readers compare ideas before buying (e.g., “cool stuff for kids room”). Low-intent keywords were used to answer informational questions and build topical authority (e.g., tips for arranging furniture in a small apartment”).

Then came writer-led topic research.

Topic research

Before writing, we studied the top-ranking pages, checked Reddit and Quora threads, reviewed YouTube results, and collected PeopleAlsoAsk-style questions. This helped us avoid generic SEO content and include the details real shoppers were already asking about.

Content optimization

Once the research was clear, the writing became easier.

Each article was structured with clear H2s and H3s, short paragraphs, bullets, examples, original images designed in-house and simple but creative language. The goal was to make every post readable for both search engines and actual shoppers.

As a writer + strategist, my main job was to make the content useful, product-relevant and easy to act on.

That included:

  • adding secondary and long-tail keywords naturally
  • using internal links with contextual anchors
  • writing stronger meta titles and descriptions
  • adding unique images that helped with ranking in Google Images
  • refreshing old posts with new sections, media and updated copy

The outcome

This created a repeatable blog growth framework for Inspire Uplift.

Instead of publishing random articles, the blog could now support product discovery, category relevance, topical authority and long-term organic visibility. This resulted in getting traffic from 0 to 80k within 2.5 years.

It also helped the client generate $20k/month from the blog alone in the shopping season of 2022.
